February 29th, 1-4 pm is the opening reception of my art show at the CX Carlson gallery in the library at Quarryville, Pa. It would be so great to see you!! All are invited!
butterflies and flowers all in black.
How has your week been? I have been off to the doctors for some things, but I have also been matting and framing, which is almost a religious a experience for me. I have gone through all of the paintings that I have made in the last two years and chose the best-the creme de la creme- for the art show at the Quarryville library. Honestly, they have an amazing gallery. When I was first approached about showing there a few years ago, I thought, โwell it is just a libraryโ, but they do a top-notch job and are very professional with exhibiting art shows.
Anyway, this week I just wanted to show you some behind the scenes of how I frame and get the artwork ready for showing.
Measuring and cutting matboard with a bevel cutter.
Some of these paintings I decided to allow the edges to show because I love the way the colors bleed.
A macro photo of the watercolors bleeding after the tape has been removed.
Other paintings are mounted between two pieces of archival cotton matboard.
There are 11 more wooden frames being made by my Amish neighbor and they look like this-

Hope to see you February 29th! If you have any favorites or if you would like to just say โhiโ, please leave a comment below or like this article. Thank you! Until next time!
Love,
Holly
